The orchard Director: Sergey Ovcharov
Producers: Andrey Sigle Dmitry Svetozarov
This is a new version of the “Cherry Orchard” by Anton Chekhov. In our opinion, it comes up to the author’s message as close as possible. The author was utterly unsatisfied by the production of this play in his lifetime. In letters he wrote: “My play goes now, I don’t wait a particular success, business is rotten”. “Yesterday there was my play, that is why I am off my feed” or “Does “The Cherry Orchard” up till then is mine “Cherry Orchard”?... All of this is not mine really, this is a humdrum ordinary existence, but not a tiresome whimpering, makes me either sniveller or simply a boring writer, and I wrote several tomes of jolly stories. But criticism puts me in some sort of wailers!”

Director Konstantin Lopushansky Producer Andrey Sigle Co-Producer Catherine Dussart Proline Film studio CDP studio (France) with support of the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography of the Russian Federation and Centre National de la Cinematographie (France) Under the patronage of Gorbachev-Fund and International Green Cross
The script for «The Ugly Swans» is based on the story about so called ghost town where the boarding school for gifted children was located. A young and frightfully strange generation was growing up there, infinite number of commissions and special services scrutinizing closely this anomaly were chasing around. A hero, who had to carry out his own investigation, appeared against these events. But that was only his excuse. He arrived to this town just to save his child. The fight between the characters arose not for the certain children but for the form of the Future that had to be chosen by the mankind.

SERKO
The script has been created by the work “Serko” written by Jean-Louis Gouraud. This work relates to the historical fact about a horse race carried out by a Cossack - Dmitry Peshkov. He passed 9 thousand kilometers for 200 days from Saint-Petersburg to Blagoveshensk. Tsar Alexander the Third awarded the rider and his faithful horse was taken to the tsar’s stable with honour. As per the precedent, the record had not been broken till the present day. Thus, the historical truth occurred to be the core of the novel “Serko” and later was made a film version by a French producer Joel Farges. in full |
