Guide

Jacques Gamblin

Jacques Gamblin was born in the country town Grinville, on the bank of the English Channel, on the 16th of November, 1957. He started his work in arts as an odd-job man in the theater, where he found himself and discovered his love for stage. He learned acting technique in the theater school of Cann city (not Cannes). His first parts he played in the beginning of 80th: he performed in Molier’s, Klaudel’s, Marivaux’s plays. His first considerable parts were played in the end of 80th: he drew the attention of producer Claude Lelouch, who offered him four parts in four different works, one of them – «Les Misérables» by Viktor Hugo.

He performes the parts one after another and Gamblin’s theatrical character was built up very soon – his characters are high-strug, broken, sensitive - those who experience hard times.

He bacame famous after he played the main part in «The children of bogs» («Deti bolot») by Jean Becker («The children of nature»). His traits - appealing timidity and awkwardness, that inheres in his way of acting were suitable enough for the role of demobilized soldier of the World War the First, who took care of his infantile friend and his large family. The international career started with his part in «Doctor Akagi» by Japanese classic author Shohei Imamura.

Gamblin plays jazz, draws and creates the plays, favourably allowed by critics.
