Jean-Louis Gouraud

A well-known French writer, publisher, journalist, cultural figure, horse expert, traveler (Russia, India, China, Africa), an author of numerous articles on horse breeding and horse topics in fiction and art.

He made a historical horse ride in May-July 1990, from Paris to Moscow (3333 km for 73 days, for this record he was entered into the Guinness book).

This ride project from Paris to the Red Square in Moscow was supported by Mikhail Gorbachev. The horses, which took part in the ride were granted to the president of the USSR and the “historical saddle” was gifted to the Moscow Horse Breeding Museum.

For several years Jean-Louis Gouraud has been taking care of funds collection for restoration of Imperial Stables and of Horse cemetery, a unique in the whole world, located on the territory of the Tsar Village (Tsarskoe Selo).

For this purpose he arranged the charity performances in Paris, released music CDs and anthologies.

Jean-Louis Gouraud is an author of the novel “Serko” which is about a unique horse ride, made by Russian Cossack named Dmitry Peshkov, who passed 9 thousand kilometers from Blagoveshensk to Saint Petersburg, with a hope to get justice from the Tsar.

At present a large French-Russian film project is under production on the territory of Russia according to his novel. Proline-Film Studio takes part form the Russian side. This studio is also completing a project “The Ugly Swans” by Konstantin Lopushansky, supported by Mikhail Gorbachev’s Fund.
