Police captain Adil Akhtanov, nicknamed «the Tick», is suspected of a murder which is supported by substantial evidence. Further against him, a defendant, whose case was formerly prosecuted by Captain Akhtanov, witnesses against him. KATARSIS (Kazakhstan) Film Studio, established in 1988, was one of the first independent studios in the USSR. By 1994 it had already shot more than 40 films. In 1994 its founder Maxim Smagulov was awarded the Khanzhonkov Medal for the Best Russian Producer.
